Wound Care Team

Every year chronic wounds affect millions of American lives. Healing should come naturally but sometimes due to various complications such as diabetes, poor circulation or infection, the healing process can be slow and difficult and that can result in wounds that won't heal.

The CMH Wound Care Team offers a multi-disciplinary team approach and state-of-the-art wound healing treatments for individuals with chronic wounds. Team members include: Michele Voelker, Advanced Practiced Registered Nurse (APRN) who has completed specialized training from the Wound Care Education Institute and is now Wound Care Certified (WCC); CMH family practitioners and general surgeon; and Deb Baker, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Crist & Pieschl Physical Therapy.

"Our specialized wound care team," said Curtis Hawkinson, president and chief executive officer, "represents an exciting addition to the high quality healthcare services that Community Memorial Healthcare already supplies." The wound care team will enable us to provide a complete program of treatments and support services for the care of wounds."

Non-healing, chronic wounds will be treated by the team, including the following: arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, traumatic injuries, surgical wounds and infected wounds. The wound care team will perform a comprehensive evaluation and then implement a treatment plan to meet each patient's individual needs. The goals of the team are to heal the patient's wound, educate the patient about effective wound management and prevent recurrence of the wound.
