Pulmonary Rehab - it works! What do patients have to say?

What do our patients have to say about Pulmonary Rehab?

"Having completed the 6 week Pulmonary Rehabilitation program has changed my life, compared to 1 1/2 years in and out of the hospital and denial that I had a problem.
I now take one puff of medication a day, have learned to breathe correctly, have no panic attacks, and now exercise 10-20 minutes a day.
Not only have my lungs improved, but my heart is better, plus learning to drink water has improved my kidneys.
I strongly recommend this program, and I am 83 years old. Never too old to learn!"
- Jo Ann L.

"I took the class because I was ready to do anything that would improve my breathing. I would recommend this to anyone who is suffering from a lung disease. Education is just one of the tools that you have to help a person deal with breathing problems. This class helps to build your stamina to get back to doing your daily activities and or exercise.
You also receive emotional support from the pulmonary personnel and from other patients who are faced with the same problems as you. It gives you a feeling of community and helps to see that you are not the only one with breathing issues.
I felt like the team cared about my health and future. I am so glad that I took the class and would recommend it to anyone that needs it. What do you have to lose? It worked for me to improve my health. Thanks to all!"

"I left CMH on Feb. 18, 2020, with a walker. On March 2, 2020, I did my qualification for my Pulmonary Rehab entrance, still using a wheelchair for distance with a walker aboard. We did two rehab sessions on March 10 and March 12, with five minutes on each machine twice per session. After the last session, Jessica said, "let's walk to your car," and with her help and my cane, we made it. Talk about a boost in confidence!
Then came the COVID-19 stay-at-home order. I continued to use my Vive pedal machine, and added a recumbent bike while at home until we were able to return on May 12, 2020. Phil, Bob, and Jessica were in charge of the half hour of education and one hour of physical therapy per session. We worked on the treadmill, recumbent bike, and rowing machine. We started at five minutes each on the machines, and gradually increased the time and endurance level to where, at my last session on June 4, 2020, I was up to 18 minutes on each machine. I no longer had to rely on a cane, and was able to walk from the car to rehab with no help. Thanks to all who helped me with my recovery."
