Description: CMH participates in "Sterling Connection, Enriching Lives Over 50," a program of Bryan Health in Lincoln, NE. Sterling Connection is a comprehensive program of health related services for people age 50 and older. It offers a unique array of benefits designed to provide members with resources to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. As part of Sterling Connection, CMH sponsors monthly luncheon programs (Lunch Bunches) featuring a healthy meal and guest speaker. All Sterling Connection members in the Marysville area will be invited to the monthly luncheon series. Cost of lunch is $5.00. Our next Lunch Bunch, Thursday, August 7th, features Dr. Ronald Lee Cobb, Doctor of Ministry and Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor. Dr. Cobb is the founder of Hope, Help, Health (HHH) in Holton, KS, an addiction recovery clinic that serves northeast Kansas. Before founding HHH, Dr. Cobb was the Senior Addiction Therapist at Menninger Clinic in Topeka, KS. Please make reservations for Lunch Bunch by Wednesday, August 6th by calling CMH.

Event: Food Handler's Class
Location: CMH South Plaza Conference Room
Description: CMH is offering a Food Handler's Class through the Riley County Extension Office. Ginny Barnard, County Extension Agent from K-State University in Manhattan, KS will serve as the instructor. The class is recommended for all food service employees to help promote the service of safe food. Upon completion, attendees should have a good understanding of what foodborne illness is, how it is caused, and what you can do to help prevent it from occurring. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion, as well as a food safety reference manual to take home. Cost for the class is $8.00. Event: Accessing the Patient Portal: a training session for CMH Patients
Location: CMH South Plaza
Description: CMH is offering an instructional class entitled ‘Accessing the Patient Portal: a training session for CMH patients.’ The class will introduce individuals to the web based patient portal, and provide hands-on instruction on how patients can set up a secure personal account and view inpatient hospital records – such as allergies, immunizations, lab results, medication lists, and discharge instructions. Patients who want to be better advocates of their own health are invited to attend the free class. Two classes are being offered: Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 5:30-7:30 PM; and Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Both classes will be held in the CMH South Plaza Training Room, located at 18th & Jenkins Streets. Please use the South Plaza main (north) entrance. Please bring your laptop, IPad or tablet if you prefer. CMH will have computers set up for patient use as well. Description: CMH is offering an American Red Cross cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid class taught by certified CPR instructors. Cost is $55 which includes a $25 pre-registration fee. Books and materials included. Red Cross Certification will be issued upon completion. Class size is limited, so please call early to register.

Event: Loss of a Child Grief Support Group
Location: South Plaza Conference Room
Description: This support group was established for individuals who have suffered the loss of a child. If you have experienced the loss of a child of any age, please feel free to join us. You may be a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle. The support group will provide an opportunity to talk about your child and your feelings, and is a place to speak freely, knowing that you won’t be judged and that what you say is confidential. Cheryl Stohs, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Community Physicians Clinic, serves as the group leader. Information on grief will be available, but the main emphasis will be on supporting each other through this life changing event.
