Community Memorial Healthcare's "Healthcare for Tomorrow” capital campaign has a challenge goal of 2 million dollars, which will allow CMH to build a new hospital replacing their existing facility. As a vital part of northeast Kansas, the hospital in Marshall County has touched the lives of families, neighbors and friends for over 50 years. Community Memorial Hospital (CMH), as it was first known, opened its doors in March 1958 as a 36-bed hospital. Through the years, the hospital has expanded its services and has grown in the number of people it serves regionally. CMH is a non-tax supported, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality healthcare for over 10,000 residents in 14 rural communities. Today, Community Memorial Healthcare is a 25-bed critical access hospital which provides emergency services to a broad area, stretching across Marshall County, 12 miles to the north and 25 miles to the south of State Highway 36. There are patrons living in Washington and Nemaha Counties, and southeast Nebraska that rely on CMH for their health care services. Medical clinics in Blue Rapids, Marysville and Wymore, NE offer area citizens access to healthcare needs. Community Medical Equipment, a part of CMH, provides durable medical supplies and is located in downtown Marysville. CMH also offers home health services to the homebound and partners to offer hospice care. CMH is a safety net provider of healthcare services to Marshall County and the surrounding area. Hospitals exist to care for our communities. As a safety net provider, CMH is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to provide care and services to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay. In 2007, CMH provided nearly $1.5 million in uncompensated care. Pam Harrison serves as the CMH Foundation coordinator. She can be reached by email at pkharrison@cmhcare.org or by phone at 785-562-2311, ext 290. The campaign office is located in the lower level of Community Physicians Clinic at 1902 May Street.
