October is breast cancer awareness month. CMH Radiology is celebrating this event by sponsoring fun and educational events for hospital employees and community members. CMH Radiology will sponsor a ‘Get Your Pink On’ poster competition for all hospital departments; a Jeans Day for hospital employees on Tuesday, Oct. 17th with proceeds going to Early Detection Works; a ‘Pinked Out’ balloon launch on Oct. 17th with proceeds from balloon sales going to Early Detection Works; and sweet cookie treats for purchase from CMH Dietary.
‘Pinked Out’ t-shirts are available for purchase from Radiology for $14.00 ($3.00 donation a shirt to Early Detection Works). Deadline for ordering t-shirts is Wednesday, September 20th.
Everyone is invited to purchase balloons to honor and remember all those affected by breast cancer. Balloons are available for purchase from Radiology for just $1.00 (cash only please). Please sign up at the Radiology Counter for helium filled balloons that will be available to pick up by 12:15 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 17th. The balloon launch will take place that day at 12:30 PM in the CMH south parking lot.
Early Detection Works (Kansas Department of Health and Environment) pays for clinical breast exams, mammograms, Pap tests and diagnostic services for women who qualify. Regular screening and prompt treatment can reduce deaths from breast and cervical cancer.
